Portrait time!
This time I thought of doing the good ol' professional himself, Jean Reno. Although I would say he already has a distinct caricature-y face.
These are quit fun to do, it teaches you how to pinpoint key features in a persons face. Like with Reno, he has a long face, strong jawline, small mouth and a long nose.

And the little doodled of the day goes to.... Donatello!:D I watched the TMNT series last night and wanted to do another doodle of him, more stylized this time though.
Hope everyone's having a great Monday!:)

Life drawing 3
I've started doing lifedrawing again. I usually do it on paper, but I went digital this time. I found it to be a little clunky at first, but I found it got a little better after a little while.
Here are some 60 sec. sketches. More to come soon!

Going full digital
So I'm narrowing down the design of my 2nd character in my shortfilm, Obscurum (follow my production blog). I've found it really exiting to work straight digital, although I love pen on paper, I just found it so much more intuitive at times. You can erase, redraw, and see you mistakes so much faster.

Shape study1
I was inspired by Stephen Silver again and wanted to do a study of shapes! I love how Silver manages to get so much contrast, line - and shape variation in his character studies!
I really would recommend this exercise to anyone, and I loved doing this study!

Character design - Obscurum
Sorry, I haven't posted so much recently, but I promise more stuff is coming. I've been quite busy working on my shortfilm, Obscurum. You can follow the production blog here, so I'd thought I would post something related to that here.
I'm really happy that the project is moving forward, and I will be posting more exiting stuff soon enough!:D

Meeting you're inspirations
One of the biggest highlights from the festival, was that I got the chance to meet one of my favorite artists, Michael Dudok De Wit. His short-film, "Father & Daughter" was one of the main inspiration for my graduation movie. He was there to screen his acclaimed feature film, "The Red Turtle", and also do a Masterclass.
As you can imagine, it was like Michael Jackson was at the festival and I thought I wouldn't get to meet him.
But as luck would have it, he wandered over to my space at a directors dinner on Friday. I tried not to geek out too much and make him uncomfortable since he doesn't like to be in the spotlight too much. Thus I kept my questions to a minimum, and in the end asked him for an autograph which he was kind enough to give me!
I don't get to meet my inspirations too often, but I'm really happy to know that Mr. Dudok De Wit is as much of a humble and kind person as I thought he would be.
Ps: I'm totally gonna laminate this picture!!
4 Amazing days in Spain!
I am back!
So I haven't posted in a week, but that is due to me getting invited to ANIMAC 2017, the Animation Festival in Lleida Spain. It's a wonderful festival coordinated by a team of lovely volunteers, and directed by Caroline Lopez (Low left pic).
My short-film, "Rumble in the Jungle", had it's World premiere and was screened there throughout the 4 days in the Open screen, "Short & Sweet 1" category for kids and family. And it was a LOVELY 4 days indeed. The kids came in with their mom & dads and seemed to enjoy my movie (I'm just happy nobody cried), and also the other screenings!
I myself got the chance to see some great short/feature films, met some wonderful artists and was also asked to do a couple of presentations of my film.
I cannot recommend this festival more highly and I'll be back there next year for sure!
