Portrait time!
This time I thought of doing the good ol' professional himself, Jean Reno. Although I would say he already has a distinct caricature-y face.
These are quit fun to do, it teaches you how to pinpoint key features in a persons face. Like with Reno, he has a long face, strong jawline, small mouth and a long nose.

Donni
And the little doodled of the day goes to.... Donatello!:D I watched the TMNT series last night and wanted to do another doodle of him, more stylized this time though.
Hope everyone's having a great Monday!:)

Life drawing 3
I've started doing lifedrawing again. I usually do it on paper, but I went digital this time. I found it to be a little clunky at first, but I found it got a little better after a little while.
Here are some 60 sec. sketches. More to come soon!

Going full digital
So I'm narrowing down the design of my 2nd character in my shortfilm, Obscurum (follow my production blog). I've found it really exiting to work straight digital, although I love pen on paper, I just found it so much more intuitive at times. You can erase, redraw, and see you mistakes so much faster.

Shape study1
I was inspired by Stephen Silver again and wanted to do a study of shapes! I love how Silver manages to get so much contrast, line - and shape variation in his character studies!
I really would recommend this exercise to anyone, and I loved doing this study!

Character design - Obscurum
Sorry, I haven't posted so much recently, but I promise more stuff is coming. I've been quite busy working on my shortfilm, Obscurum. You can follow the production blog here, so I'd thought I would post something related to that here.
I'm really happy that the project is moving forward, and I will be posting more exiting stuff soon enough!:D

Meeting you're inspirations
One of the biggest highlights from the festival, was that I got the chance to meet one of my favorite artists, Michael Dudok De Wit. His short-film, "Father & Daughter" was one of the main inspiration for my graduation movie. He was there to screen his acclaimed feature film, "The Red Turtle", and also do a Masterclass.
As you can imagine, it was like Michael Jackson was at the festival and I thought I wouldn't get to meet him.
But as luck would have it, he wandered over to my space at a directors dinner on Friday. I tried not to geek out too much and make him uncomfortable since he doesn't like to be in the spotlight too much. Thus I kept my questions to a minimum, and in the end asked him for an autograph which he was kind enough to give me!
I don't get to meet my inspirations too often, but I'm really happy to know that Mr. Dudok De Wit is as much of a humble and kind person as I thought he would be.
Ps: I'm totally gonna laminate this picture!!
4 Amazing days in Spain!
I am back!
So I haven't posted in a week, but that is due to me getting invited to ANIMAC 2017, the Animation Festival in Lleida Spain. It's a wonderful festival coordinated by a team of lovely volunteers, and directed by Caroline Lopez (Low left pic).
My short-film, "Rumble in the Jungle", had it's World premiere and was screened there throughout the 4 days in the Open screen, "Short & Sweet 1" category for kids and family. And it was a LOVELY 4 days indeed. The kids came in with their mom & dads and seemed to enjoy my movie (I'm just happy nobody cried), and also the other screenings!
I myself got the chance to see some great short/feature films, met some wonderful artists and was also asked to do a couple of presentations of my film.
I cannot recommend this festival more highly and I'll be back there next year for sure!

Wendigo
"The myth says that if you ate human flesh, your punishment was to turn into a creature that constantly craved it."
No mythological creature has fascinated me more then the Wendigo. Stemming from the Native Indian mythology, it's deemed an evil spirit, but it also acts as a cautionary tale, where if you consume human flesh, the very person who commits these acts will turn into an unrecognizable monster.
I just love the sheer unstoppable power of the creature, pretty much resembling a terminator (In nature).
So here you are;)

Nimble - the good thief
He is Robin Hoods predecessor, in that he steals from the rich and gives to the poor! But all heroes have their Achilles heel, and Nimbles is his love of gambling. He means well but if you propose a deal to Nimble, it would be too hard to refuse. Even if it's for his own life.
Thus, he lives his life accordingly, on the edge.

Obscurum - Short film
I finally had the time to make a production blog on tumblr for my shortfilm, Obscurum. It's a film I've been working on now, and I wanted to share a little of that world with you guys.
I'll be posting weekly pre-production stuff, such as storyboards, character designs and much more...
I hope you guys will join me in this journey!

Storyboard panels
I've been helping out a good friend of mine on his tv-series, "Chigalum og Jakten på Den Gyldne Sugerøret", which would translate, "Chigalum, and the Hunt for the Golden Straw". It's a crazy, but funny TV-series concept my friend has been working on for almost 10 years!
It details the misadventures of a couple of ragtag pirate skeletons and their "trusted" parrot, Hans.
Here are a couple of storyboard panels I've been working on for the last week

Colored BB
Here is the finished Beatboard. In the end, I had to churn this out quit quickly for the MIFA deadline, so it's not perfect... But I will eventually rework this soon, then Storyboard!

Beatboard and Mifa
So I've been working extensively lately on my shortfilm, Obscurum. It's one of my goals for this year, to get it at least production ready (even if I have to do everything myself!:D). I'm going to attend Annecy 2017... hopefully... and I'm superhappy to tell you guys that I've decided to register my shortfilm into MIFA this year. The pitch convention for shortfilm, tv-series and transmedia projects.
The deadline is tomorrow, so I've been working hard these last days to get everything ready. Here is a little sneak peek at what I'm doing right now:)

Peruvian musician
Since this is a gift for a friend, I didn't want to post it on my blog, but I doubt she's watching 😆
I give you a peruvian musician. I wanted to keep the line-art but still had to clean it up a bit. :) I love Peruvian clothes as well, they are so colorful and beautifully handcrafted. The patterns especially are amazing.
Hope everyone's having a great Sunday!

Logo design
I've been meaning to work on a logo for my company, MuiMotion, but because I'm swamped with other work I've never had the time to sit down and start the process. Luckily one of my good friends, Tom Petter Hansen, a designer in Oslo volunteered (having enough browning points from doing some free work for him in the past) and made this awesome design last night!
This isn't the final design (I think I want another color on the typo.), but I'm pretty much happy with it, from the "playful" green owl (inspired by one of my own characters), to the "professional" type.
I will in the new future, start designing my card and perhaps even some postcards!

Portrait 7
It's been a little while since I did a portrait. I came over this portrait of a Sikh (at least think he is a Sick) which I found fascinating. I specially love the colors of the photograph.
Looking at it now, I could've added a bit more contrast, both in color and shape. But I'll leave it for now, and remember it for next time!

Have a dumpling!
Mmmmmm Dumplings!
Since I bought the Kyle T Webster Megapack brushes, I never got the chance to fully explore them (I think it would take me a full day to try all of the brushes out XD).
So since one of my resolutions this year is to do more color drawings, I thought it would be a great opportunity to finally try some of the brushes out:D
I went for a simple color scheme, hope you guys like it!

Vlad the toothless!
A little short animation for your guys. I love doing these rough little skits, as they are quick (reasonably), and you can focus more on the technical aspects of the craft instead of everything else such as lighting, background etc...
I hope everyone is having a great Friday, and those in Germany, have a great Three King's Day

To 2017 and beyond!
I am BACK people! Woop woop!
So, after a much needed Christmas holiday, I'm superhappy to be back. Did you guys miss me? Cuz I missed you! :)
2016 is gone and dusted, and 2017 is upon us. Personally speaking, 2016 was cloudy though sprinkled with sunshine.
Sunshine:
1. I finished my little film, "Rumble in the Jungle",
2. Re-opened the blog (and managed to keep it open)
3. Improved as an artist (although this is a lifelong project)
4. Enrolled into the Oatley Academy
Clouds:
1. Not much progression on my short film, "Obscurum"
2. Could push improving in art & animation
3. Be more active at Oatley Academy
So, it looks like more sunshine then clouds, but my biggest disappointment was Obscurum. I thought I would make great progression on it, but I failed to do so.
So I made myself an internal promise after New Years, to really improve on this fact. I will be focusing more on my film these coming months, and will create a production blog either on tumblr or facebook. So stay tuned for that! I'm really exited and positive that great stuff is gonna happen, and I hope you all will join me on this new journey!:D

Portrait study 6
Here is another portrait study... I tried to draw Emma Stone, but I don't feel like it looks like her in the end XD
But I feel the improvements for every drawing I make! Onto the next!

Leonardo
And here we have our fearless (and maybe a little boring?) leader Leonardo!
I know the other drawings were more dynamic, but I wanted to go another route with this one and do a perspective drawing.
Next one is Michelangelo!

Constant the Roman warrior
Here is the final piece I recently finished!
His name is Constant, and is a born leader and a great renowned warrior of many wars.
In this piece I wanted to create a character with a strong silhouette and pose. These factors are just two of the important elements to create a good character design. Also I tried to put more thought into how I can lead the eye with detail and color.
Hope you guys like it!:D
