Constant the Roman warrior

Here is the final piece I recently finished!

His name is Constant, and is a born leader and a great renowned warrior of many wars.

In this piece I wanted to create a character with a strong silhouette and pose. These factors are just two of the important elements to create a good character design. Also I tried to put more thought into how I can lead the eye with detail and color.

Hope you guys like it!:D

Fu-Manchu

I wanted to experiment a little with size and line accuracy in this drawing. Getting clean lines are very hard but I'm trying to use some of Jake Parker's advice and draw on a steady surface, and to use wrist/lower/upper arm movements or different strokes!

Boxer 2

The boxer is back! I've started to get more into Tvpaint, and I'm starting to "tame" the software to my liking! Doing quick animations such as these lets me play and explore animation from a more technical point without thinking about proper cleanup and color.

Rumble in the Jungle preview

So here it is, FINALLY! A preview of my film, "Rumble in the Jungle". It's a short which I've been working on now for roughly a year, and I'm superhappy to have finished it end of last month. I've been sending it to festivals, so I cannot post the full movie online yet.

It's been a lot of tears and joy (specially when I lost 50% of the work) but the payoff I've gotten from working on it is something irreplaceable! I hope you enjoy!

Boxer

I'm getting more and more into Tvpaint, and I will say that the software is starting to grow on me! Yes I still feel it's a little clunky and not so intuitive at times, but it has some great features which other softwares don't have (just importing and manipulating jpgs and bitmaps is really easy)!

Anyway, here is a small rough animation I did for some practice!

Portrait sketch 5

It's been a while since I posted here mostly after doing Inktober, I needed to take a break from drawing to focus on animation. This also included finishing and  distributing my super-short film, "Rumble in the Jungle" to festivals:D

But now, I'm back, and hopefully I'll start consistently update my blog with new drawings!

And so... it ends...

So Inktober finished 2 days ago, and unfortunately I never managed to complete the month:/ I came VERY close though, and did 24 drawings, which beats my halfhearted attempt last year! On one hand, I'm a little disappointed, but mostly I'm really happy with the effort I made in the end!

I learned so much and grew as an artist, both technically and mentally. It was hard at times and it was easy at times... but mostly... it was hard haha! I think the most important lesson I learned is an old one and known to most people. To improve, YOU. NEED. TO. PUT. IN. THE. WORK. It's as simple as that... There is no easy solutions or tutorials that can teach you that. If you do this, you'll be surprised at how fast you'll see improvements;)

And now, the drawing continues!:D Until next Inktober, seeya!
