Clay model

It's been awhile since I updated, so here is a clay model of Orville I made last week.
I only had three colors, so I had to compromise a little.:)

Forest Gnomes: Are overeager, mischievous little creatures who lives deep in the old Troll Forest. Gnomes are magical creatures, and use this to their advantage causing havoc on passers by, who usually first takes them to be small children. They usually dont mean any harm, but if they see something they want, they usually dont give up until they have it, which is mainly food and everything else shiny and valuable. One would even argue that they are a bunch of no-good kleptomaniacs and hoarders.

A poet ones said that their mythical powers include re animation of plants, sniffing out gold and levitate. They live a secluded life, their homes shrouded by the forest itself, but even looking for them is a hard task. The Gnomes are usually the ones that find you.

This will be one of many characters in Orville & Otto

Orville and Otto Intro

Here is the first intro I made for Orville & Otto, this was made in the early stages of concept work, so I will probably make another Intro in due time, but this also shows how the characters interacts with one another

Orville og Otto House

I wanted to add another background layout, this one depicting our characters house under the "Redwood" tree. I'm also going to make an interior design in color before starting on the animated trailer.

Orville run test

Heres a animation test on how Orville will move around in different perspective. I want him to be quit clunky and wobble like a penguin.

Orville & Otto Poster

Heres a poster I did of Orville & Otto

Thursday, November 13, 2008

This picture shows the biggest tree in the "Troll Forest", the "Redwood". Its vaguely humanoid in its shape, which might indicate that this tree was an ancient troll, which roamed the forest before time itself. It is said that the troll loved the forest so much that in the end, it became a part of it, and turned into this tree.

Picture 2: I like the color and atmosphere in this picture, and it also shows the gigantic contrast between a person (person sitting on the stone) and the forest itself.

Okay! Here's another background layout. The lines are getting better, but its still too detailed

Background layouts

I'm gonna start creating different background layouts for Orville & Otto. The series will draw some inspiration from the Norwegian woods and the old fairy tales of "Askeladden", made by Ivo Caprino. Birch trees, dark and naturalistic colors. This one, I feel is too detailed i think.

Heres my final color pallet for Otto. I quite liked the bottom left.

Falcon body

A few sketches for the falcon character. Just pinpointing his body symmetry and color

Monday, October 20, 2008

some color and shape samples of falcon wings.

Falcon colorsketches

I was thinking of having three characters in my animated series, Orville, Otto, and then a Peregrine Falcon, which will be a recurring character in the series. He will be in the pilot episode and then act as the "main enemy" in "Orville & Otto".

Here is a few color sketches of how he could look like. I'm thinking of making him more "realistic" then our two heros, Orville and Otto, hopefully it will give him more of a menacing edge.

Character: Worm color pallet

Heres a color pallet of my other character, the worm, in my upcoming short-film. I'm thinking about going with the top right, I think it has a nice natural color, and not so overly "cartoony" look.

Old rough sketch - work of Orville the Horn Owls friend, Otto the Caterpillar.

Owl color and face test

A final color compilation for my "Orville & Otto" project, and shows how the owl could look like. I myself really liked the last one to the right. Green Owl with horns and orange eyes.
